Abstract
With close analyses of the working class, young students, intellectuals and a couple of subclasses in Western developed industrial society,Marcuse come to the conclusion that the working class have already been assimilated into capitalist society, and thus no longer constitute the major revolutionary force against contemporary capitalist society.Marcuse, therefore, place hopes of revolution on young students, intellectuals and the subclasses instead. It is argued that Marcuse has taken a one-side,partial approach to the contradictions and revolutionary forces in contemporary capitalist society though his points of view,to certain extent, reflect the realities of the revolution in there.
