Sentence-initial ErShi in ZUTANGJI appears in form of Ershi NP+VP.ErShi can or cannot mare explanation on the time and also on the widening of the time.From discourse,sentence-initial ErShi is developing the function of marking topic and is becoming a topic marker.In addition,ErShi originate from Buddhist scriptures of the Eastern Han Dynasty and is the result of language contact between Chinese Language and Sanskrit Language resulting from the translation of Buddhist scriptures coming from ancient India.
