Abstract

The images of China in the autobiographies of the two early Chinese American writers Yan Phou Lee and Yung Wing have reflected the psychological mechanism of their writing. The "crack state of mind" they subconsciously possessed while presenting the images of China makes them inherently related to the second-generation of Chinese American writers, and their identity as Chinese American writers has been thus verified.

Key words

Chinese American literature / crack mentality; / cultural identity / image of China
